Meg Cabot

Bio

Meg Cabot is the author of more than fifty books, many of which have reached number one on the New York Times best seller list. Several of her publications have even been made into movies, including her most famous, The Princess Diaries, as well as Avalon High, among others that are said to currently be in production. Cabot writes for a wide audience, from young children to adult readers. The author also writes in a variety of genres, from young adult fiction to historical romance.

Born in Bloomington, Indiana on February 1, 1967, Cabot was an avid reader from a young age. As a child, she often read and dreamed about princesses, which is said to be the foundation of her most famous books. Once she got into high school, she began writing more, and she even wrote for her high school newspaper.

After high school, Cabot studied art at the University of Indiana. Before moving to New York City where she landed a job as a dormitory assistant, which gave her plenty of time to write, she lived in both France and California. Her job in New York lasted for about a decade and served as an inspiration for another of her famous novels titled Size 12 is Not Fat and the sequel Size 14 is Not Fat Either.

In 1993, before her career really took off, she got married to Benjamin Egnatz. Her first publication came in 1998, but it wasn't until 2000 with her publication of The Princess Diaries that her career took off and she became famous. After that, she had fans and publishers knocking at her door, as well as movie producers.

Since then, Cabot has become one of the most well-known young adult authors and has sold millions of copies of her books, 16 million from The Princess Diaries alone. Cabot currently lives in Florida with her husband and two cats.
