ARC Party: What You Missed

10/25/2012 4:41PM | Posted by: Margot-TeamEpicReads | Tea Time

Yesterday was a momentous occasion on Epic Reads. We unveiled 7 mystery boxes via live webcam and with the help of all our glorious book nerds, started a few new trends. Here’s what you missed:

Earlier this week, 7 mystery boxes arrived filled with ARCs (avance reader copy) for books that are coming out this winter / spring.

We made everyone wait TWO WHOLE DAYS until we would open all of the boxes. Some of you may have died from the impending excitement, but most of you held on in time to watch us go live on Wednesday at 3:45pm. (Some of you even watched from around the world where it was morning! You guys are all so amazing. WE LOVE YOU!)

Video streaming by Ustream

Just to let you know how awesome you all are, #ARCparty trended on twitter! The hashtag #ARCparty was tweeted by all of you OVER 1,100 TIMES. Everyone do a *twitter wave* in celebration!!! (Fast forward the video to 10:45 to see what I’m referring to.)

While the winners for the live stream were already announced via Twitter yesterday, you can still enter to win ALL THE ARCs! Login to your Epic Reads account and click here to enter!

You know want to do a *book shimmy* for all the giveaway goodness. Go ahead, shimmy with us! (Cue the video to 18:00 to see what we’re talking about.)

Or you can do the *twitter robot*….cue the video to 11:37….or just watch the opening to see what I mean.

This #ARCparty was so popular, it even inspired by Twitter rap from @gdcribbs:

So. Much. Awesome. in Seven Numbered Boxes.
Two lovely ladies breaking down Titles like Foxes…
Trilogies, trilogies, coming to an end.
Snarkles commands Twitter Waves and arms to rise and bend…
Booknerd tweeps watch it all, calling out the numbers.
Boxes opened, titles dropped, like readers unencumbered.
We love books, there’s no denying our infatuation.
As each title solicits snaps, slow claps, and party dance sensations
Now we’re left with the biggest ARC giveaway explosion.
One lucky winner gets it all, 1 copy of each revelation. Woot!

Here are more of our favorite tweets from the event!

    It goes just after:

We love books, there’s no denying our infatuation.
As each title solicits snaps, slow claps, and party dance sensations

Also, I just spoke with King Snarkles, who has declared it the official rap of his kingdom.

  18. October 27, 2012 | 2:37 pm

I hope you’ll be doing a giveaway for these!!!!

  19. October 27, 2012 | 3:39 pm

I would happily kill a Smurf if it meant I would get a copy of Everbound from doing so. Everneath was one of my favorite reads of 2011 (I had an ARC and read it at the very end of the year, so it was SERIOUSLY good enough to worm its way into my favorites so late in the year) and I emailed Brodi’s publicist in hopes of getting a review copy. I’ve got my fingers crossed, but I haven’t heard anything back. :(

Prophecy is also one I’m super excited for, but being lucky, I’ve already got an ARC of it! I had to trade a very precious signed ARC I received from one of my favorite authors and I’m hoping the trade was worth it. I’ll see when I start reading it in a few days!

  20. October 27, 2012 | 3:47 pm

Can I just say the Prophecy by Ellen Oh was AMAAAAZIIINGGGG!!!!!!

Taken by Erin Bowman looks good, too!! So many good books coming out! Cannot wait!!! :)
