Ahhh yes, the YA cliché. If you’ve read enough YA fiction (and we assume you have if you’re on this website), you’ve probably picked up on one or two (or 10) all-too-predictable tropes. You know those plots what we’re talking about: The Chosen One, The Love Triangle, The Mysteriously Absent Parents, The Villain with a Secret Heart of Gold, The Main Character That Somehow Doesn’t Realize Until the End of Book 1 That They Are Actually the Long Lost Ruler of a Forgotten Kingdom That Will Overthrow All The Other Kingdoms By The End of Book 3, etc etc etc.
As much as we enjoy making fun of these types of story lines and pretend like we’re all above them, let’s be honest, we all kind of secretly love a good cliché YA story. And you know what? That’s totally 100% a-okay with us because sometimes it’s these types of books that make us fall in love with reading again and again.
