To celebrate Veronica Roth’s new duology, Carve The Mark– on sale January 17th, 2017, we’ve created our very own high fashion challenge! Think of this as a very bookish spin on Project Runway. For the Carve the Mark Costume Challenge, we selected four designers, and asked them to create a costume inspired by Carve the Mark. They’ve been keeping us posted throughout the design process on their inspiration, ideas, sketches and costumes and we’ve gotta say – they are blowing our minds. SO MUCH TALENT. We’re beyond excited to see the results of this challenge and share them with all of you!
As a sneak peek, we’re introducing you to the designers of the challenge. Each week we’ll be showing you another designer sneak peek, so be sure to check back here to meet all four designers and learn how Carve the Mark inspired them.
How much do you love that sketch? The color, the buttons, the attention to detail – we can’t wait to see the finished piece!
Yu’seph’s sketch could not be more different than Kristina’s – we LOVE that Carve the Mark is inspiring this level of creative variety! His design for Carve the Mark is a unique blend of inspiration from the book, historical costume and personal style.
Hannah’s piece is influenced by so many different aspects of the story and her sketches have us SO INTRIGUED to see how her costume turns out! Also can we please talk about how amazing Hannah’s personal style is- obsessed.😍😍
Fashion design literally runs in the family for Jessica Beyer, a third generation designer. She drew her inspiration from one motif in Carve the Mark and turned it into an entire gorgeous design that we honestly want for ourselves.
We can’t believe the incredible variety of inspiration our four selected designers took from Carve the Mark. Each look is so unique but also completely stunning! Now that we’ve seen all the sketches – which costume are you most excited about seeing brought to life?
