We should just mention that it was not Melanie Griffith in the American remake of the original French movie, but in fact Bridget Fonda.
EpicGirl here throwing my two cents into the mix because I like to think of myself as a La Femme Nikita expert. I wholeheartedly agree with everything Kiersten is saying. Both the 90s TV show and the current one, in my opinion, are far superior to the movies, so if you’re considering watching anything Nikita, I say go with the shows first. But the best version of this franchise by far, hands down, no contest, seriously try to debate me on this, is the 90s TV show starring Peta Wilson and the incredibly smoking hot Roy Dupuis (who seriously needs to be in more stuff).
Here is proof why the 90s TV version is better than the current one:
Peta Wilson version – LOOK AT THOSE TEARS! REAL TEARS!
Maggie Q version – “Must….try….to…get….one….tear…..NOPE.”
Michael in the 90s TV version – Roy Dupuis is so hot he makes mullets look sexy.
Michael in the current TV version – Remember when Shane West was in A Walk To Remember with Mandy Moore? Picture him in that, then picture him all bad ass with a gun and stuff. Yeah, we don’t get it either.
90s version – Peta Wilson’s Nikita looks like she’d kick your butt then host a girls night slumber party.
Current version – Maggie Q just looks like she’ll kick your butt….then probably make fun of your wardrobe.

I like the 90′s version with Peta Wilson. Definitely! I do think that Maggie Q is a bit cold and emotionless. She makes a great assassin or a kick butt ninja but she doesn’t seem very warm.
I didn’t even know about the 90′s version so I’ll have to rent them and watch them.
