So, here’s everything you need to know about LOVE, SIMON—AKA, the phenomenal adaptation of SIMON VS. THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA!

Also, beware, because slight spoilers ahead!

Update: We have our first official poster!

Are you obsessed? We’re obsessed.

The Story:

Haven’t read SIMON VS yet? No worries—you’ve still got time! The movie comes out on March 16th, but you should definitely jump on this sooner rather than later. You can thank us afterwards for making your life better, because this book definitely will.

Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.

Incredibly funny and poignant, this twenty-first-century coming-of-age, coming out story—wrapped in a geek romance—is a knockout of a debut novel by Becky Albertalli.

The Title:

If you read the rest of author Becky Albertalli’s heartfelt thread, you’ll see why she’s on board with this new title: “The movie feels like a love letter. Now the title does too.” And she is SO RIGHT. The movie does the book so much justice, and this is an adorably on point alternate title for one of the sweetest stories we’ve ever read. It’s common for studios to do this, and it means that Fox believes that it can be a mainstream hit. YAS!! 🎉

The Cast:

The cast for LOVE, SIMON could not be better. Shall we take you through a brief rundown?

Nick Robinson as Simon Spier

You might know Nick from other movies like JURASSIC WORLD, THE FIFTH WAVEor EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING, but get ready to know him as our official Simon Spier! For anyone not familiar with the book, Simon is the main character. Sixteen-years-old and still in the closet, Simon bonds with an anonymous classmate in the same situation as him through emails. He’s sympathetic, hilarious, and emotional, and Nick plays him perfectly.

Katherine Langford as Leah Burke

Get ready to fall in love with Simon’s best friend all over again. Coming off a powerful turn on Netflix’s THIRTEEN REASONS WHY, Katherine dominates as the dry humored, empathetic Leah. Can Simon’s best friend be all of our best friend, please? In SIMON VS THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA, Simon’s secret and the chaos that ensues starts to take a toll on his friendship with Leah, and all we can say when it comes to the film is… get ready for ALL the feels.

Keiynan Lonsdale as Bram Greenfield

Not only is Bram a superhero over on the CW, but he’s also a YA veteran—maybe you recognize him from playing Uriah in DIVERGENT? Anyway, Keiynan is playing Bram, who is kind of, sort of our giant SIMON VS crush, and we are so excited to see an LGBTQ+ actor playing an LGBTQ+ character! We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect Bram ourselves, and needing to wait to see these characters come to life is the absolute worst.

Jennifer Garner as Emily Spier

If you’re a ’00s kid, you might know Jennifer Garner from, oh, we don’t know, practically all of your favorite movies. Maybe it was her starring turn in 13 GOING ON 30 (a forever classic), or her martial arts skills as Elektra in the original DAREDEVIL. But between us, our favorite has been her emotional role in JUNO—and that’s also exactly why we know she’s the perfect actress to play Simon’s mom. Get ready to laugh and cry. #SorryNotSorry

The rest of the cast includes: JOSH DUHAMEL as Simon’s dad, Jack Spier, ALEXANDRA SHIPP and JORGE LENDEBORG, JR. as Abby Suso and Nick Eisner, two of Simon’s other good friends, LOGAN MILLER as Martin Addison, one of Simon’s classmates, TALITHA BATEMAN as Nora Spier, Simon’s adorable little sister, MILES HEIZER as Cal Price, TONY HALE as Mr. Worth, and so many more for you to fall in love with!

Any other questions?

You can probably find the answer on Becky’s blog right here! Oh, and we know music plays a pretty big part in SIMON VS. And you know what? The soundtrack of the movie is freaking phenomenal and we are going to have it on repeat 24/7.
