Read your way across the globe with our PLANET YA maps!

Today’s stop: OCEANIA!

A few weeks ago we debuted our United States of YA reading map, a map featuring young adult books set in all 50 states. We promised to extend the project to the rest of the world, and thanks to your help, we’ve been working hard on creating a list of YA books set in as many countries as we can. Now we are ready to begin rolling out maps for the rest of the world! To make it easier, we are breaking up the maps by regions and will post them in separate blog posts this week and next. We encourage you all to reblog, post, download, print and share. We created these maps for everyone and we hope you are enjoying them as much as us!

View Canada & Greenland’s map here.

Today we are traveling down under for a visit to the countries that make up the region known as OCEANIA. With the help of our readers, we chose one book for each country. (Technically, Tasmania isn’t a country, but we like that little island so much we gave it it’s own book.) Remember, these books were chosen because they take place in that particular country!

How many books on this list have you read?

BOOKS FEATURED ON THIS MAP (alphabetical by title)

Flight by Rosie Dub
Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones
Sea by Heidi R. Kling

UP NEXT: Europe! (It’s a big one!)

WE NEED YOUR HELP: We still have a few holes for our Europe map, so if anyone can think of YA books set in the following countries, that would be a big help!

Albania, Belarus, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia

Why didn’t you include in Australia the “The Tommorow Series” by John Marsden?

We had to pick just one book, and decided to go with a personal favorite, Jellicoe Road, for Australia! Obviously there are lots of other options we could have gone with, but we could only pick one!

To be honest, Jellicoe Road seemed to drag on, so I just skimmed it. Can anyone explain what happened to me?
