This will be one of those moments where most of my genuine reactions can only really be conveyed through noises that would concern most people. But if you love YA romance novels, you shouldn’t be a stranger to these types of noises. I’ll do my best to articulate those noises into intelligent words, but I’m telling you right now, I can’t guarantee anything.
Hahahahahahaha. *crying* *clutches at heart* *cries more* I tried.
You are the first dream, the only dream I ever was unable to stop myself from dreaming. You are the first dream of my soul, and from that dream I hope will come all other dreams, a lifetime’s worth. – Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
Okay, let’s forget unrealistic expectations of love. What about unrealistic expectations of guys? I can’t even get a text back, let alone a letter talking about how I am a dream.
Will somebody ever feel this way about me? Probably not, seeing as my life is not a YA novel filled with precious boys and girls who like to express their love in poetic ways.
“You look pretty today. I like you in blue,” – To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
Should this make me want to scream? No. Not at all. Did that stop me? No. Not at all.
Listen, I’m going to be honest. Percabeth will be the reason for my death. They were goals before I even knew what goals were.
“I might be in love with you.” He smiles a little. “I’m waiting until I’m sure to tell you, though.”– Divergent by Veronica Roth
“You can’t hurt me the way you think you can. But even if you could? I would rather die with the taste of you on my tongue than live and never touch you again. I’m in love with you.” – The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
On the dramatic side, but still very hot and incredibly romantic because when it comes to YA, the more extra it is, the better.
“I wondered what that was like, to hold someone’s hand. I bet you could sometimes find all of the mysteries of the universe in someone’s hand.” – Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
And here I was thinking holding hands was totally nbd when it’s clearly a really big freakin’ deal!
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIND LOVE WHEN THIS IS WHAT I HAVE TO COMPARE IT TO???
“The more you start to love someone, the more you ache when they’re gone, and maybe it’s that middle ground that hurts the most, when you can see them and still not feel like you’re near enough.” – Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway
I think reading this hurts the most. My heart can’t take this much longer.
Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be almost comatose on the floor. It’s just— I’m going to need a minute.
“What are you really studying?”
He leans back to look at her.
“The statistical probability of love at first sight.” – The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
That stat gets higher when you’re cute and British.
“Only a king consort is fool enough to love a queen.” – Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
*INTERNAL SCREAM* *EXTERNAL SCREAM* If you’ve read Three Dark Crowns, please tell me you are also screaming. And please tell me you are equally as anxious to read One Dark Throne.
“I’ll come back to you,” I say, “If it’s the last thing I do, I’ll come back to you.” – I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
And she counts the minutes until he does and girl, let me tell you. That’s a lot of minutes. But it’s still a really cute sentiment.
*sniffles* What is love? Baby, don’t hurt me.
I’m going to go lie down now.
