Move over Annie Leibovitz, there’s a new portrait photographer in town and her name is Bethany Bee. We were casually scrolling through Instagram, double tapping on all your photos when we stumbled upon a gorgeous Selection inspired photo shoot. The photos were taken by Bethany Bee, a 15 year old Utah-based photographer whose Instagram account is the definition of #goals. (Check out her website here!)
She did a photo shoot for The Crown by Kiera Cass and posted some of the photos on her Instagram which caught our eye immediately. They were so good and perfect that we had to reach out to Bethany to get more details! We’re completely obsessed with these photos!
Here are some of our favorite shots!
Don’t these photos looks just like the book cover for The Crown?
All About the Selection Photo Shoot
My name is Bethany Bee. I am a 15 year old aspiring photographer and a huge fan of The Selection Series (read the books 4 times kind of fan). Last fall, I planned and executed (with my Mom’s help doing the sewing) a shoot of America Singer in the iconic blue ruffle gown (see those photos here) We had so much fun with that shoot, we just knew we needed to do the same thing for Eadlyn– especially with the new book coming out. I knew exactly who would make the perfect Eadlyn, my friend Cora Stone. (Check out Cora’s Instagram here!)
Cora is only 14 (I know, right?) but she’s a local model, actress and singer whom I met on a photo shoot last year. We became friends and plan and execute photo shoots together a lot. It works out great because I’m always flooded with new ideas and Cora is always willing to try just about anything we can dream up. Cora loved the idea of playing Eadlyn for the photos and I think the way she carries herself and is a bit aloof in many of the shots is just like the character.
We planned the shoot at a couple of local venues that were “castle-like” in the Provo, Utah area. Of course, we procrastinated a bit so even after months of planning, we almost didn’t complete the shoot in time!
The most fun we had was showing up, unannounced (with Cora in full Eadlyn mode) at our local Barnes and Noble, insisting that they bring her a copy of her book immediately so she could take a photo. We weren’t even allowed to crack the cover but they did let us get a shot of her and the book!
Every girl wants to feel like a princess and the Selection series lets us imagine that we were. I’m really excited to now use the costumes we made to give more girls a chance to have an America or Eadlyn moment!
We think she totally captured the feel of the Selection series! What do you think? Let us know below!
