Hi, everybody! Hi, Dr. Nick! (Any Simpsons fans here? 😉) I have to admit I feeling a bit silly today! I think it's exhaustion… I had two weddings this weekend and had every intention of taking today off but alas, work had other ideas! Anyone else out there work for themselves or work freelance? Does your work invade your life at inopportune moments? I've been doing this for almost two years and I still struggle to find a work/life balance. But I get send emails and make conference calls from my couch, in my pjs – so I guess that's the trade off! 🌿 "When are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue?" – Practical Magic I can't believe we are almost done with our May #bookreadhappyhour challenge! It's been so fun seeing everyone's pictures and we are so grateful to those of you who joined us even for just one day! We'll be doing a wrap up tomorrow and showing off our faves from the last week and a half. And be sure to join us for more movie quoting fun in June! You can find the prompts for June a few posts back. • For today's prompt we want to hear about quirky, weird, eccentric characters! These are my favorite kind of characters, mostly because they seem to get written with the most personality. Some of my all-time faves are: Sevro au Barca Ronan Lynch (and Blue and Gansey) Puck Connolly and of course, Kaz Brekker But I've featured all of those books recently so I wanted to show off a newish series (for me). The Study in Charlotte books are a retelling of the Sherlock Holmes and John Watson relationship, in an AU where Holmes and Watson were real and their descendants must deal with the fall out of their famous friendship. I really liked the first book, the second was a little weak, but I'm still looking forward to more! Charlotte Holmes fits the quirky character prompt well as she follows some of her predecessor's more peculiar habits. 🌿 #grimdragon: Awkward character Jamie Watson is just as bumbling and often awkward as his predecessor. 🌿 #90sbookishgrunge: High School (yesterday) 🌿 #sweetbookishlibrary: Unfortunate characters Sorta spoilery but the Moriartys return as well and on of them meets with unfortunate circumstances.

Two more days! Two more days and I'm off on a fabulous adventure! I can't wait! Been planning this weekend getaway for months! It's given me something to look forward to on the hard days. ~ What are your plans this summer? Anything that you've been looking forward to? ~ #summerbookvibes – Wipeout – Messed Up Character – Just like her predecessor, Charlotte Holmes is a pretty messed up character. #livelaughbooksjune – Underwhelming book – I was really disappointed in this book. I was hoping for something fun and new in the Sherlock world and ended up with a gender reversal retelling. I was very underwhelmed. ~ #books #bookstagram #ilovebooks #astudyincharlotte #brittanycavallaro #underwhelming #underwhelmingbooks #messedupcharacters #wipeout #coverbuy #dissapointed #lawnchair #grandpamadeit #summerdays #lazydaysofsummer #anticipation #upcomingtrip #monthsofplanning #baseball

My Spring tbr wrap up. I mentioned on my blog that I want to tackle my huge tbr stack. Which I tried from April to June. As always something got in between ( a library haul in my case) and June was more a library reading month. I will write about my spring tbr and my experience with it over on my blog. All I can say here is that it was a good experience but I think there were too many books on my pile. I read between April and June these books: #ruinandrising by #leighbardugo / #illuminae by #jaykristoffandamiekaufman / #acourtofthornsandroses by #sarahjmaas / #astudyincharlotte by #brittanycavallaro / #acourtofmistandfury / #acourtofwingsandruin / #totenfang by #simonbeckett / #bluelilylilyblue by #maggiestiefvater / #denmundvollungesagterdinge by #annefreytag / #ichfürchtemichnicht by #taherehmafi / #daughterofsmokeandbone by #lainitaylor I didn't finished because I really couldn't get into it #thefifthwave. #springtbr #inspirationdailytbr #igreads #kindle #bookstagram #bookstagramer #wrapup
