We’re back with our second “Top Ten” list in honor of TOP TEN by Katie Cotugno! TOP TEN is the adorable novel that counts down the ten most significant moments in Ryan and Gabby’s friendship, jumping back and forth over the past four years while the friends decide if they want to take their relationship to the next level.

If you ever picked up a Katie Cotugno novel (FIREWORKS99 DAYSHOW TO LOVE), then you know they have the cutest photographs on the covers—and the endpapers! So this week’s list features YA books with the best endpapers!

Top Ten Endpapers in YA

1. Top Ten by Katie Cotugno

Obviously have to kick off this list with TOP TEN! Look how much fun Ryan and Gabby are having in these pics! You know that BFF goals are real when there are Polaroid pictures involved. And that giant ice cream cone pretty much sums up our life aesthetic. These endpapers are perfect for Katie’s newest book and we can’t wait for everyone to see what’s waiting for them in the pages inside!

What's the last book you read that made it into your #TopTen favorite books of all time? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

2. Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard

The endpapers in the RED QUEEN books are even more royal than the Silver Court itself. But they’re just as shimmery. We love that they include a royal banner and a Scarlet Guard bandana each, and the floral design growing around them just makes them that much more beautiful. Mare Barrow may not care much for the regal aesthetic, but we sure do.

The Red Queen series ⚔️ • • I love Maven so much and I keep rooting for him to show a little bit of humanity so that he can become good but even if he doesn't I will protect him with my life because that's how much I love my baby! • • I'm 200 pages into King's Cage and seriously what is up with this Cameron POV? Couldn't they have picked a more likable character! I can't stand her honestly! She annoys me and she's such a hypocrite and acts like a little child and I'm not here for it 😒 • • On the other hand I'm a little indecisive on what to read next. Here are my options – Ari and Dante discover the secrets of the universe – The Thousandth floor – geekerella • • If you've read any of these books, please let me know what you thought of it and which one I should start next! • • • #redqueen #glassword #kingscage #victoriaaveyard #maven #marebarrow #cal #thescarletguard #books #reading #bookpic #booknerd #booklover #bookworm #ya #yabooks #yaseries #bibliophile #bookstagram

3. The Thousandth Floor series by Katharine McGee

Last year, THE THOUSANDTH FLOOR stunned us with its sheer beauty (and an addictive story to match). From the glittering gold tower to the swirling title script to the, yep, you guessed it, gorgeous, flourishing gold paint endpapers, this was an immediate addition to the front of our shelves. Thankfully book two, THE DAZZLING HEIGHTS, dropped a few weeks ago and it is just as beautiful, with silver in place of gold 😍.

4. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

If you haven’t read this yet, what are you doing?! Get on that ASAP. If you have, you might’ve been surprised just like we were by these amazing countdown clock endpapers! THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END is set in a world just like ours, but where people get a call on the day they’re going to die. Since this book follows two boys, Mateo and Rufus, who meet on their last day, these clocks ticking backwards to crossbones warn us that we are in for a devastating ride. Still worth it, tho. So good.

5. 99 Days by Katie Cotugno

We had to give Katie Cotugno a second mention in this list because we wish our Instagram feeds looked half as good as these photos! 99 DAYS follows a girl named Molly as she returns from school for the summer and has to face the town she left behind—a town in which she slept with her boyfriend’s brother. But the 99 days of her summer vacation have a lot of ups and downs, and honestly, what captures this better than an Insta feed-looking array of polaroids? Plus, totally want that adorable cat.

Check out the end papers-they are gorgeous! #99Days #katiecotugno

6. The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

If you love fairy tale retellings as much as we do, you can’t miss C.J. Redwine’s Ravenspire books. These companion novels put some serious dark spins on the tales we know, and THE SHADOW QUEEN, the first, takes aim at Snow White. In this one, the exiled princess is hunted by a cursed prince, and the scarlet tinged map that makes up the endpapers warns us of the twisting story that’s awaiting.

7. Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor

We have missed the DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE world so much so getting to jump back into it was amazing—just as amazing as these colorful endpapers! This tells the story of the first date between Zuzana and Mik, and it was everything we could’ve hoped for plus an additional burst of shelfie inspiration. And the designs wound into the endpapers’ pattern are so perfect for the series, it’s just one perfect package!

8. I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski

The globe-trotting rom-com that we never knew we needed, I SEE LONDON follows best friends as they set off on a trip around Europe. The endpapers are not only beautifully colored, but also extremely helpful as they show us where the girls stop on their cross-continental trip! We caught ourselves flipping back to look at the endpapers for reference… and then staring for a few more minutes just to admire them. We can’t help it sometimes!

. . . PERGUNTA: Eu AMO livros que envolvem viagens! E vocês? Alguém já leu I See London, I See France? 💕 . . . ENG: I’m going to travel on Wednesday so #IseeLondonISeeFrance by Sarah Mlynowsk is the perfect warm up!✨Btw, I’m in love with its cover and map, look how beautiful they are! 😻

9. Fairest by Marissa Meyer

Surprise, surprise: More retellings! The first book in the Lunar Chronicles, CINDER, was so addicting with its twisting take on Cinderella (sort of), that we had to dive in to the rest of the series, too. The endpapers in FAIREST feel like the sweetest reward, because they are freaking beautiful. The galactic world that the Lunar Chronicles are build around come to life with Marissa Meyer’s writing, but getting to see them in this stunning illustration was that much better.

10. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

We never started FANGIRL planning to love Simon and Baz, and yet… we are so glad that CARRY ON pulled through! Rainbow Rowell’s take on ~The Chosen One made us fall in love with the trope all over again (or maybe just her writing and characters and story…), and the endpaper map was the cherry on top! This book is a must have for any reads, re-reads, and endpaper shelfie goals.

About Top Ten

Perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen, Jenny Han, and Morgan Matson.

Ryan McCullough and Gabby Hart are the unlikeliest of best friends. Prickly, anxious Gabby would rather do literally anything than go to a party. Ultra-popular Ryan is a hockey star who can get any girl he wants—and frequently does. But somehow their relationship just works; from dorky Monopoly nights to rowdy house parties to the top ten lists they make about everything under the sun.

Now, on the night of high school graduation, everything is suddenly changing—in their lives, and in their relationship. As they try to figure out what they mean to each other and where to go from here, they make a final top ten list: this time, counting down the top ten moments of their friendship.
