Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis

📷 Day 3: Girl on the Cover for #rfabjune17 📚 I was going to go for a cover with a close up of a person, but changed my mind. Mostly as I prefer covers that aren't close ups of people, for the most part. So instead I went to one of my absolute favourite covers of all time ❤️I just adore these covers, the colours are absolutely stunning! I also adore this series, it is a fantastic duology and I really recommend this series. Who else loves these covers? And who has read this series? What did you think? #bookstagram #booknerd #reading #reader #bookphotography #booktography #booknerdigans #instaread #bookporn #bookshelf #bookshelfie #shelfie #shelfgoals #bookshelfgoals #bookworm #amreading#currentlyreading #booknerd #youngadult #notadroptodrink #mindymcginnis #inahandfulofdust

This one had us from the very first line. This dystopian, post-apocalyptic read will give you all the romance, drama, and adventure you could ever need from YA.

Lynn knows every threat to her pond: drought, a snowless winter, coyotes, and, most importantly, people looking for a drink. She makes sure anyone who comes near the pond leaves thirsty, or doesn’t leave at all. Confident in her own abilities, Lynn has no use for the world beyond the nearby fields and forest. Having a life means dedicating it to survival, and the constant work of gathering wood and water. Having a pond requires the fortitude to protect it, something Mother taught her well during their quiet hours on the rooftop, rifles in hand. But wisps of smoke on the horizon mean one thing: strangers. The mysterious footprints by the pond, nighttime threats, and gunshots make it all too clear Lynn has exactly what they want, and they won’t stop until they get it….

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

Becky Albertalli has done it again with the cutest, sweetest, novel of all time. The Upside Of Unrequited will give you all the feels, plus has diverse characters you’ll fall in love with!

Seventeen-year-old Molly Peskin-Suso knows all about unrequited love—she’s lived through it twenty-six times. She crushes hard and crushes often, but always in secret. Because no matter how many times her twin sister, Cassie, tells her to woman up, Molly can’t stomach the idea of rejection. So she’s careful. Fat girls always have to be careful.

Then a cute new girl enters Cassie’s orbit, and for the first time ever, Molly’s cynical twin is a lovesick mess. Meanwhile, Molly’s totally not dying of loneliness—except for the part where she is. Luckily, Cassie’s new girlfriend comes with a cute hipster-boy sidekick. Will is funny and flirtatious and just might be perfect crush material. Maybe more than crush material. And if Molly can win him over, she’ll get her first kiss and she’ll get her twin back.

There’s only one problem: Molly’s coworker Reid. He’s an awkward Tolkien superfan with a season pass to the Ren Faire, and there’s absolutely no way Molly could fall for him. Right?

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

This one is a no-brainer. Everyone is raving about The Hate U Give, and for good reason! You’ll be lost in this story form the moment you open the pages.

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed.

Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr.

But what Starr does or does not say could upend her community. It could also endanger her life.

The End of our Story by Meg Haston

"What if this is the end of your story? What if you were only supposed to come into each other's lives for a certain period of time?" – Meg Haston, "The End of Our Story" . . . . 📍 The End of Our Story is not your typical teen fiction that revolves around young love and cliché high school drama. It's alot more than that. Kudos to the author for writing such "dark" story which is at the same time, "enlightening". THIS is a love story between two souls with two very different stories they want to tell, want to hide, and want to forget. An ironic love story that shows that sometimes love isn't enough and neither an excuse to gauge what's wrong and what's right. 📍 . . . . . . . . #bookphotography #bookworm #booknerd #bookish #bookstagram #bookhaul #f4f #bookme #meghaston #theendofourstory #bookreview #arc #advancereaderscopy #teenbooks #teenfiction #teenromance #yanovels #yafiction #contemporarybooks

Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. Stolen: A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher

Stolen: A Letter to my Captor by Lucy Christopher. One of my favorite books of all time. Sixteen year old Gemma is kidnapped from Bangkok airport and taken to the Australian Outback. This wild and desolate landscape becomes almost a character in the book, so vividly is it described. Ty, her captor, is no stereotype. He is young, fit and completely gorgeous. This new life in the wilderness has been years in the planning. He loves only her, wants only her. Under the hot glare of the Australian sun, cut off from the world outside, can the force of his love make Gemma love him back? The story takes the form of a letter, written by Gemma to Ty, reflecting on those strange and disturbing months in the outback. Months when the lines between love and obsession, and love and dependency, blur until they don't exist – almost. #books #bookish #lovebooks #reading #read #stolen #alettertomycaptor #stolenalettertomycaptor #lucychristopher #favoritebooks #favorite #kidnapping #abduction #psychology #psychological #library #librarybooks

Juliet Takes A Breath by Gabby Rivera

LGBTQ+ Themes, plus a bad ass Latina protagonist? YUP. I am so here for it. This book is a breath of fresh air. You won’t be able to put it down, we promise!

Juliet Milagros Palante is leaving the Bronx and headed to Portland, Oregon. She just came out to her family and isn’t sure if her mom will ever speak to her again. But Juliet has a plan, sort of, one that’s going to help her figure out this whole “Puerto Rican lesbian” thing. She’s interning with the author of her favorite book: Harlowe Brisbane, the ultimate authority on feminism, women’s bodies, and other gay-sounding stuff.

Will Juliet be able to figure out her life over the course of one magical summer? Is that even possible? Or is she running away from all the problems that seem too big to handle?

With more questions than answers, Juliet takes on Portland, Harlowe, and most importantly, herself.

Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson

Allegedly is one of those books that will have you sweating because you can’t take the suspense any more! It’s thrilling and eye-opening and we cannot recommend it enough!

Mary B. Addison killed a baby.

Allegedly. She didn’t say much in that first interview with detectives, and the media filled in the only blanks that mattered: A white baby had died while under the care of a churchgoing black woman and her nine-year-old daughter. The public convicted Mary and the jury made it official. But did she do it? She wouldn’t say. Mary survived six years in baby jail before being dumped in a group home. The house isn’t really “home”—no place where you fear for your life can be considered a home. Home is Ted, who she meets on assignment at a nursing home. There wasn’t a point to setting the record straight before, but now she’s got Ted—and their unborn child—to think about. When the state threatens to take her baby, Mary must find the voice to fight her past. And her fate lies in the hands of the one person she distrusts the most: her Momma. No one knows the real Momma. But who really knows the real Mary?

Tasked with sensing the intentions of would-be assassins, Sonya is under constant pressure to protect the emperor. My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows

Probably one of the best books I've read. Ever. #MyLadyJane #bookstagram #yabooks #bookblogger #yalit

A post shared by Kevin Loh (@bookevin_) on

My Lady Jane is a hilarious novel by some of our favorite authors! You will be laughing until your cheeks hurt!

The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.

At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane is about to become the Queen of England.

Avalon by Mindee Arnett

"He didn't know if it was real, if freedom was something you could earn or win after a long, hard fight, or if it was just an illusion. But he decided it didn't matter. Only this mattered. This moment right here, surrounded by the people he cared about. And he realized this was the paradise his parents had meant when they named this ship." -Mindee Arnett, Avalon (Avalon, #1) It's getting into flu season. Take care of yourself, kiddos. This one’s for all those sci-fi, star wars junkies who need a new page turner!  This fascinating and fast-paced sci-fi adventure won’t let you down!

Of the various star systems that make up the Confederation, most lie thousands of light-years from First Earth-and out here, no one is free. The agencies that govern the Confederation are as corrupt as the crime bosses who patrol it, and power is held by anyone with enough greed and ruthlessness to claim it. That power is derived from one thing: metatech, the devices that allow people to travel great distances faster than the speed of light.

Jeth Seagrave and his crew of teenage mercenaries have survived in this world by stealing unsecured metatech, and they’re damn good at it. Jeth doesn’t care about the politics or the law; all he cares about is earning enough money to buy back his parents’ ship, Avalon, from his crime-boss employer and getting himself and his sister, Lizzie, the heck out of Dodge. But when Jeth finds himself in possession of information that both the crime bosses and the government are willing to kill for, he is going to have to ask himself how far he’ll go to get the freedom he’s wanted for so long.

The Stranger Game by Cylin Busby

The Stranger Game is the creepiest yet most satisfying book we’ve read in a VERY long time. This one will have your heart racing from the moment you pick it up from your TBR.

When Nico Walker’s older sister mysteriously disappears, her parents, family, and friends are devastated. But Nico can never admit what she herself feels: relief at finally being free of Sarah’s daily cruelties. Then the best and worst thing happens: four years later, after dozens of false leads, Sarah is found. But this girl is much changed from the one Nico knew. She’s thin and drawn, where Sarah had been golden and athletic; timid and unsure, instead of brash and competitive; and strangest of all, sweet and kind, when she had once been mean and abusive. Sarah’s retrograde amnesia has caused her to forget almost everything about her life, from small things like the plots of her favorite books and her tennis game to the more critical—where she’s been the last four years and what happened at the park on the fateful day she vanished. Despite the happy ending, the dark details of that day continue to haunt Nico, and it becomes clear that more than one person knows the true story of what happened to Sarah. . . .
