Oh my gosh! I fell in love with all of the books in both those series. The Summoning, The Awakening, and The Reckoning-oh my gosh! My heart still flutters when i think of Derek changing! but Rafe from The Gathering and The Calling! My heart just stopped when he fell out of the helicopter! I was crying so hard! I havent read the third book in that series yet, I CANT FIND IT! and it makes me so mad! but i did sense that the two groups were going to come together when Rafe passed that note to Maya saying to "Find Him, then find them" i cant wait to see how Derek is doing with his changes and how Simon and Tori have progressed with their spells, and of course how Chloe is handling her necromancer powers.
Is anyone else having a hard time finding these books in the bookstores or is it just me?

What's one question that you always wished were asked but haven't yet? What is the answer to that question?

Hi Lisa!
You are tricky ☺! I’m not sure what question would elicit this response, but I was laughing at myself this morning over what I like to call my ‘gum addiction.’ I like to chew gum while I write, but my husband has a weird phobia of chewing gum. If he sees a wad of discarded gum, say, under a table, his reaction is on par with how I once handled a six-foot reef shark checking me out when I was snorkeling. I do my best to insulate him from my little habit; I hide little packs of gum all over the house where I know he won’t look. But that means it’s hard to know when my supply has been depleted. This morning, I was frantically digging through my sock drawer only to discover my gum was all gone. Sigh. Off to Walgreens.

Well, I hope you do write a sequel because your characters are so well developed and well loved, and well...awesome, that you can't just leave them in a single book. My suggestion is write book 2 from Tucker's perspective (like you short story), or Ellie's again or even switching perspectives and
Call book 2: Warrior Ascending and have Tucker on the cover
Your plot: Back in LA something happens that makes Ellie want to train, and Tucker discovers more about his roots. We the get whole star-crossed lovers thing going, bring Tucker's mom into it, Loki and Odin are at it again, and Ellie and Tucker must beat the odds and save the day......or something like that. You're the author. You write it. Shall your fans sign a petition for a sequel? Or maybe you'd like a guild trip from you own characters:
TUCKER: "Ingrid, you know you love me and Ellie, so give us another chance."
ELLIE: "Wow, I actually agree for once Tuck. Yeah, Ingrid. What he said."

Also, I think I'm gonna make you some fanart. I'll draw some Valkyries!

This is such a hard question! Whenever people ask about favorite books, my head starts to spin with a million possible answers. Because there are so many amazing books out there. Dr. Seuss' books taught me to read and will always have a special place in my heart. I was a huge fan of Lord of The Rings and wrote some amazingly awful fan fiction. So yes, that series definitely inspired me to write. I also recently found an entire notebook I filled with musings about the Once and Future King by T.H. White. I really loved that book when I young and now I have an itch to re-read it.

Hi KikiRose,
Excellent question! What influenced or encouraged me to become an author? I wish I knew! I've always been a voracious reader but I never dreamed I'd write a book--much less have it published. I have sort of fiddle around with short stories my whole life, but one day I started writing a little project and found I couldn't stop. The character grabbed ahold of me and I wanted to tell her story. I actually didn't even tell my friends what I was up to until I was finished. And I told my coworkers about a year ago--they were like "WHAT? You have a novel being published?" (I work as a science geek, and they were stunned). So, I think it was a combination of LOVING books and finding a character who wouldn't let me stop.

Hi EpicLady and LilyATyler--
Actually, the answers to your questions sort of overlap! I went on a trip to Norway a few years ago with the Paulson women--my grandmother, cousin, and aunt. We were visiting family and just having fun together. While we traveled, I was revising a different book, but the idea for VALKYRIE RISING sort of hit me all at once. I love Norway, and as we traveled, I found myself describing the setting in my mind. The mountains, the gorgeous fjords, the fantastically cool cities. So, yes EpicLady, lots of dreamy landscapes :). The story basically evolved out of them. Once I'd decided I wanted to write about Norway, the Valkyrie part hit me pretty quickly. Because who doesn't love Valkyries?

As far as other research to get my mythology facts straight--I did a lot of reading online and at the library. You can learn a lot just by browsing.

Hi LenaMarsteller,
Thanks for stopping by. Great question! My grandfather used to have books of Norwegian troll stories that I loved when I was little (I’ve asked my grandmother to try to find them and send along the titles). And he had a collection of hand-carved wooden trolls from Norway that I was obsessed with. I’m ashamed to admit that part of the draw for me was my brother’s absolute terror when it came to the little trolls. Yep, I was that kind of sister--but now we’re super close. And of course I loved all the Norse mythology stories.

Hi Deadtossedwaves,
It's like you read my mind! I was just telling a friend how I never thought I could write from a boy's perspective but I've been experimenting with a new project that's totally boy point of view, and I LOVE it. So, my answer right now is--both!

I actually cut a character from VALKYRIE RISING while revising an early draft with my agent. So yes, that definitely does happen. What's weird was it barely changed the story to remove that character, so clearly he wasn't needed. That was a great lesson for me :).

Hmm, I don't think a specific character has frustrated me to write--they're pretty clear in my mind so I just let them loose. But characters often do things that I, Ingrid, wouldn't do and sometimes that hurts to write. Especially when you know it'll lead to nothing but trouble.

Thanks for the excellent questions!

Hi Dove'sFlight,
What a great question! I'm not sure I had specific expectations for what would happen after my book was published. I planned for the launch party and a blog tour, and they were both a blast. But I was fully unprepared for how amazing it was to see my book on a bookstore shelf. The poor clerk at the first bookstore I visited had to deal with my laughter, tears, and incoherent babbling. He was a very good sport about it.

Thanks for posting :)

Hi Bamayankee,
Thanks so much for stopping by! Actually, everything I read influences how I write--not that I try to emulate everyone but rather, thinking critically about how others tackled tricky plot or character issues helps me think through issues in whatever I'm writing. So, I'd say the books that turned me into a lifelong reader when I was younger probably had the biggest influence on me. Because eventually, reading inspired me to write. There are probably dozens of such authors but the ones that really stand out in my memory are Jane Austen and J.R.R Tolkien (with each of those two, I read everything they wrote, in a row, with minimal breaks to eat and sleep--seriously, I'm lucky I didn't get bedsores).
