I can report that Before I Fall has been the reason I'm going to bed late every night.
This book has so many great quotes.

I just came across this one:
"It amazes me how easy it is for things to change, how easy it is to start off down the same road you always take and wind up somewhere new. Just one false step, one pause, one detour, and you end up with new friends or a bad reputation or a boyfriend or a breakup. It's never occurred to me before; I've never been able to see it. And it makes me feel, weirdly, like maybe all of these different possibilities exist at the same time, like each moment we live has a thousand other moments layered underneath it that look different."

Just finished reading this book last night. This is one of those "one day" reads where you can hardly put the book down. Lauren Oliver is such a powerful writer.

"I vowed after that day that I would be your hero too, no matter how long it took." (Kent) Can't help but love him and that is what makes the story all the more sad and moving.
Great book. Glad to have shared it with you all!

I'm starting my reread right now. This book is fantastic, one of those rare reads that really takes you by the heart and makes you reassess everything.

I mean,
"The thing is, you don't get to know. It's not like you wake up with a bad feeling in your stomach. You don't see shadows where there shouldn't any. You don't remember to tell your parents that you love them or - in my case - remember to say good-bye to them at all."
Can it get more powerful than that?

> Hey please give the brief summary about the book
> FALL FROM GRACE.. (:P)

Grace always has a plan. There's her plan to get famous, her plan to get rich, and-above all-her plan to have fun.

Sawyer has plenty of plans, too. Plans made for him by his mother, his father, his girlfriend. Maybe they aren't his plans, but they are plans.

When Sawyer meets Grace, he wonders if he should come up with a few plans himself. Plans about what he actually wants to be, plans to speak his own mind for a change, plans to maybe help Grace with a little art theft.

Wait a minute-plans to what?

From Charles Benoit, acclaimed author of you, comes a witty and unsettling tale of two high school seniors planning the job of a lifetime.

I know that in addition to Pink Smog, you also wrote a sequel to Weetzie Bat for the adult audience. Between that and Pink Smog, which was your favorite extension of the Weetzie Bat series to write and why?

Hello!

My question is:
Do you keep the idea once you write it down or is there always a chance of change? How do you know exactly that that is the sentence/idea you want when there are probably so many other thoughts going on in your head?

This month we are reading and discussing THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST by emily m. danforth! If you've read the book, jump in and answer the questions below and feel free to add your own!

1. First off, what is your overall impression of the book? Did you enjoy it?

Now that's out of the way, let's dive into the discussion guide (which you can download here!)

2. Why does Cameron’s initial reaction when she learns of her parents’ deaths make her feel guilty? As Cameron processes her grief, how does she feel a different kind of guilt?

3. What do you think Cameron’s dollhouse symbolizes to her? What might it symbolize in terms of the novel?

4. Use just a single word to describe Cameron’s romantic relationship with each of the following:
Irene
Lindsey
Jamie
Coley
Adam
Erin

5. How does the Montana setting enhance the themes of the novel?

6. What do you think about the principles behind God’s Promise? Do you think a young person should be forced to attend an institution like it without his or her consent? Why or why not?

Hi Alana - The truth? It was a bet from my wife, Rose. I had just finished my 3rd mystery for adults and was looking for something to do to clear out my head when Rose suggested I try writing a YA. I thought she was nuts--I had a good career going writing around-the-world mysteries, why would I stop to write a YA? Then she said something like, "I knew you'd be chicken," (or words to that effect.) The bet was made and I went at it, but honestly I thought I get bored and that I would give up after a few days. Two weeks later I'm 10,000 words into YOU and I realized that I had never had so much fun writing--and that writing process itself had never been so challenging. When I was writing mysteries, I knew that if I wrote a kindda slow chapter it would be okay, my readers would stick with the book. As a former high school teacher, I know that if I wrote a slow sentence I'd loose YA readers. It forced me to sharpen my skills and focus like never before. It was far harder than I ever thought it would be, but such a wonderful experience I knew I was hooked.
