So J.K. Rowling's new book THE CASUAL VACANCY came out with the cover today. What do you guys think of it?

That's the actual cover? Not the placement cover? I agree it's kind of lack luster. But I am very interested in reading it and hopefully enjoying another side of her story telling.

I really like it, but minimalist covers have always been something I like. I think what's so off putting about it is that it is adult. It screams adult. And as much as we may hope... J.K is making the jump away from YA. It'll be interesting to see if she'll have more projects after this and if she'll ever come back to something for younger readers.

Haha! My hopes exactly. Regardless, I think that J.K. Rowling can work magic in any genre. She is incredible! smiling smiley

I don't like it at all. I fully understand that it's not aimed at teenagers, where covers are more of a big deal in my opinion, but to me it looks as though they've literally whacked it together at the last minute. The colours just remind me of McDonald's. =/ But then again, they don't need much. Anything with J.K Rowling is going to draw people in.

hey, a cover is a cover but this one is garish and would not tempt me into purchasing the book. Also, I don't think this book will have the pulling power of the Potter books (though good luck to her).
