The Luxe by Anna Godbersen is my favorite. It has a strong element of suspense and mystery; but at its heart it's still a romance. Love it!

Definitely, The River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren. I LOVE medieveal Italy!

While it's not a series, I LOVE everything by Ann Rinaldi, she's a great historical fiction author with lots of romance thrown in!

I think Jennifer Donnelly writes amazing historical fiction, I loved both A Northern Light and Revolution.
