How many pages do you give a new book until you decide whether you like it or not?

I've been known to really dislike a book but finishing it anyway because I hate leaving book unfinished. HOWEVER, If I really dont like it, I end up skimming the book till the end to make sure that I'm not missing out on something amazing. Usually not the case but I choose to give a book the benefit of the doubt!

This is a tough one... I always *try* to finish a book, but sometimes I just can't, and sometimes it has nothing to do with the book itself, life just gets in the way and by the time I have time again a new book is out that I am interested in. Whenever I win a book or am given a book by an author or publisher though I finish it regardless because I know it was given in the spirit of writing a fair and honest review.

If i am not feeling the excitment in first 10 pages i give up on iy :)

I give a book a chance even if its slow! But if it isn't hookin me by 50pg I move on to other good looking books.

10 pages, although a few years ago I would keep plodding on through a book even if it was boring me to tears. I give it 10 pages now, so I have time to read books that are worthwhile!

I'm weird. Even if I absolutely hate a book, I still read it to the end no matter what.

I can usually tell if I'll enjoy a book within the first ten pages, but I give a full fifty, just in case I'm wrong.

Well, I'm a really picky reader, I have to admit. I would say the first 50 pages. :)

i try to see the best in every book - so i try my best to read them all the way through - even if it's dragging. (i might start another one in the meantime though)

I usually read all the way through. I only stop reading if I pick up the book then think "This is sooo boring! I don't want to read!" Then I stop and pick a new one.

I keep reading even if it hurts...
