Remember when we were really optimistic about the potential in the fourth, and final, installment of the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent series going to tv for a series spinoff? Well, though we still believe in this project infinitely, it seems like our star Shailene Woodley is not just feeling it.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Woodley said: “I didn’t sign up to be in a television show. Out of respect to the studio and everyone in involved, they may have changed their mind and may be doing something different, but I’m not necessarily interested in doing a television show.”
So even though nothing is official yet, it’s looking like Woodley is out.
Her co-star Ansel Elgort also chimed in, telling The Huffington Post “It’s obviously sad because the cast all really liked each other, but hopefully we can all work together on a different project […] we didn’t say our goodbyes because we were expecting to do another one together.”
Does this mean he’s totally calling it quits as well? We hope not, but with these recent questionable comments, including a few from Theo James and Miles Teller, it seems like the cast is ready to say goodbye to the series.
We are left with so many questions… If these stars are not signing on to the next project, then who is? Will Lionsgate rethink its decision to convert this big screen hit to the small screen? The only thing we do know for sure is that Veronica Roth and team are genius and we are dying to see the end to this brilliant series! Stayed tuned for more info…
