‘UNpregnant’ is Coming to HBO Max! Here’s Everything You Need to Know

'UNpregnant' is Coming to HBO Max!

The newly released Unpregnant stood out to us a for a few reasons: the friendship at its heart, the road trip chaos that made us actually LOL, and, the fact that it features a protagonist who is actively seeking an abortion. It isn’t an easy thing to discuss, but authors Jenni Hendriks and Ted Caplan manage it with care. It’s a fun read, a necessary perspective, and now, dear reader, it’s getting the film treatment at HBO Max!

The project will be the first in a deal between Greg Berlanti (you know, from Love, Simon and the entire CW Arrowverse). Maybe even more exciting, Five Feet Apart star Haley Lu Richardson and Euphoria breakout Barbie Ferreira are set to star! We can’t wait to see these two together.

The plan is to have the film ready for HBO Max’s launch in 2020, and we can’t wait to see this starlit Southwest tale! Scroll down to find out more about the book, film, and more.

About ‘Unpregnant:’ The Book

“Hilarious. A remarkable debut.” —Stephen Chbosky, author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower

In Unpregnant, Veronica (Richardson) is a high-achieving Missouri teen with lofty college aspirations.

Until the day she gets pregnant.

And realizes that the closest place to get an abortion is over 900 miles away.

Her boyfriend, Kevin, is the opposite of supportive. In fact, he might have had something to do with it. Veronica knows that her conservative parents won’t be any help, and so, in need of company and a car, is forced to reach out to her ex-best friend: Jefferson High’s legendary misfit, Bailey Butler (Ferreira).

What follows is a road trip full of stolen cars, crazed ex-boyfriends, and the jagged edges of a broken friendship that can’t be ignored.
